Neil O’Brien presented his lake report at the meeting last night and again is urging residents to be diligent when applying fertilizer to their lawns. You should avoid anything with phosphorus when applying fertilizer to your grass. Even if you don’t live directly on the lake, everything will eventually wash away and work it’s way there. The phosphorus in certain fertilizers contributes to excessive weed and algae growth and depleted oxygen levels in the water. Check with your professional lawn care companies as well to make sure they are phosphorus free.
